The City of Allen is calling for volunteers for their 4th annual Earthfest celebration.
We are hoping to have more events and displays run *by* Scouts and other community groups. We have had a number of Scout booths in the past (Troops and individuals); only the Girl Scouts organized or staffed booths last year.
Display/activity volunteers are requested to step forward before the end of February. The event is April 7th, and there will be a more general call for volunteers in March (e.g., the creek clean-up, docents, parking directors, info booth, runners, etc.).
This is a free family-oriented event with many participation and service opportunities for Scouts. We had almost 1000 attendees last year, with great Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Girl Scout participation. The flier is attached.
The flier also introduces the many free events: kayaking, canoeing, bird walks, nature photography lessons, fly fishing lessons, local recycling programs, kite flying (and free kites), discussion/maps of the local wilderness trails, zeriscaping, etc.. More communication will be forthcoming as we get closer to the event.
