Scout Skills: Fix A Leaky Faucet!

    1. Turn off the water, there is usually a shutoff valve underneath the sink.
    2. Protect the chromium finish. Wrap the packing nut with adhesive tape.
    3. Loosen the packing nut carefully. Turn or lift out the stem assembly.
    4. Remove the screw at the bottom and pry out the old washer. Clean where the washer was.
    5. Replace worn washer with one that fits. Insert flat side down and replace setscrew.
    6. Wipe valve seat clean. Replace stem assembly. Carefully tighten packing nut. Before removing adhesive tape, turn on the valve and test the faucet.
