What’s in a Name???

Everything! A name is something that can rally folks together around one cause. A name is something that can give Scouters pride in their identity. *A name is something that we do not have right now!

With the impending realignment of the Southern Sky District on January 1st, 2012, we need to decide what the two new districts will be named. We will again be holding a “Name the District” contest for each of the two new districts:

“Southern Sky 1” – Allen, Lovejoy, and Fairview

“Southern Sky 2” – Frisco, Prosper, and Celina

We will have 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners for each district:-

  • 1st prize: a full campership to a Circle Ten Council Day Camp, Webelos Camp, Boy Scout Summer Camp or National Youth Leadership Training for the 2012 season.

  • 2nd prize: $50 gift card to Game Stop

  • 3rd prize – $25 gift card to the Scout Shop

Please find the guidelines for naming the new districts below:****

  • The district may select any name so long as the name is not a current or former Circle Ten Council district name.
  • The district will select its top three choices and submit them to the Council Alignment Steering Committee.
  • The committee will determine which of the names will be selected in the case of duplicate names being submitted.
  • The Scout that submitted the chosen district name will receive a full campership to a Circle Ten Council.  Day Camp, Webelos Camp, Boy Scout Summer Camp or National Youth Leadership Training for the 2012 season.
  • All district names must be submitted no later than October 4th, 2011 to the district executives Eric Williamson ( eric.williamson@scouting.org) or Dennis Luellen (dennis.luellen@scouting.org).

Please use the attached the form for submitting a new district name or fill one out at either Scout office.

You can print several and take them to your next meeting and have the youth fill them out during the meeting.
