As we start getting back into the swing of things for the new year, I hope you will take the time to have your Scouts register for our spring 2010 Aggie Eagle Program soon! The fall program was a great success, and we plan on that success continuing into our 26-27 Feb 2010 program!

The spring program (and remember seniors must have fully applied to A&M by the 15 Jan 10 cutoff date in order to attend) will include the Awards Banquet where scholarship certificates are awarded (a minimum of $2,400.00 over two years, renewable), quality time with our Cadets at the Obstacle Course, Stamina Course and Leadership Development Course, a visit to Kyle Field, and, of course, the Texas A&M vs University of Texas basketball game!

Boy Scouts and Venturers across Circle Ten Council  are invited to a BSA Centennial God and Country religious awards retreat, ON THE WINGS OF EAGLES, to be held at Camp Wisdom, on Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday: February 26-28, 2010. This retreat is open to Scouts and Venturers of all denominations. Adult unit leaders and interested parents are cordially invited to participate in this retreat.

We shall gather at Camp Wisdom the evening of Friday, the 26^th, for check-in, camp set-up, and opening activities.  Saturday and Sunday will include instruction programs for God & Church and God & Life, fun activities, and a service project, ending with worship before departure at Noon on Sunday.  Scouts and Venturers complete the general work towards the God and Church (Grades 6-8) or God and Life (Grades 9-12) at the retreat,  and they complete their award program under the direction of  their respective home churches.

The cost for this weekend Adventure in Faith is $25.00 per person and includes sandwich buffet Friday evening; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday;and breakfast on Sunday; camping fees; all instructional  materials; and a special ON THE WINGS OF EAGLES patch. PLEASE NOTE: Scout Troops /Venture Crews registering 10 or more youth and adults get a special rate of $15.00 per person.

Southern Sky District Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture Scouts collect more than 40,000 food items each year, providing a “good turn” service for their friends and neighbors who are ready to help a good cause. They gather nourishment for thousands of needy children and families in our North Collin County communities.

Jan 7th/Jan 30th Boy Scout Troops, Cub Scout Packs, and Venture Crews will pickup collection bags at either the January Roundtable (Jan 7th) or at the Annual District Recognition Dinner (Jan 30^th)

Feb 13th Cub/Boy/Venture Scouts deliver bags to homes in assigned neighborhoods

Feb 20th Cub/Boy/Venture Scouts pick up bags of food from homes in assigned neighborhoods.  Call or email to your local coordinator your unit’s can count in by 2:00pm!

Sorry to ask you at the last minute. We are having a fishing event this weekend. It seems that things are coming together better than I had hoped. The City of Frisco hosts an annual Trick-a-Trout. This is when the city stocks the lake at Frisco Commons park with about 3,000 trout. On Saturday, February 13th, they have kids only fishing from 8 am-11 am.

Well… in the front of this month’s Scouter magazine there is a fishing program called “Takemefishing.com.” Thinking this was kind of neat, I am implementing the program at this year’s Trick-a-Trout. So far, I have the local State of Texas biologist presenting the local fish types and locations, the Dallas Area Fly-fishing Club presenting casting, Coast Guard Reserves doing boat safety, and Troop 51 presenting fishing knots and rigging. I would like to be able to present to the general public as well as my Cub Scout Pack, 419. Usual attendance is at least over 100 kids

I was wondering if you would be able to contact any local Boy Scout Troops in Frisco to help with the presentations and just reinforcing the lessons of the presenters. They would not have to do any preparation, just help keep the kid focused on the task at hand. I have contacted Troop 298, but they are having their monthly camp out this weekend.

I would appreciate what you can do.
