Eagle Trail and Iron Horse districts are holding their annual Camporee for all scouts in the district. The event will be held on April 27, 28 and 29, 2012 at Myers Park north of McKinney, Texas.
Pre-Registration This years event will cost is $13.00 per person, 18.00 after 4/12/2012. Registration packet includes fee calculations and Patrol names for planning purposes.
Check-in Registration will run Friday Evening from 5:00 – 9:00 pm.

Clements Scout Reservation

April 27-29, 2012

Parent & Pal is an action-packed weekend camping experience for a Cub Scout and his Parent/Partner. This weekend of living at a real Scout camp, doing the things Boy Scouts do – shooting BB guns, archery, hiking, crafts, rock ranges, games and more! It is the perfect introductory camping program for “new” or inexperienced campers. All you have to do is show up. All meals and program are provided for you. Please bring your own tents, chairs, personal gear and camp chairs!

The cost is $60 per person – This cost covers four meals (Breakfast (Saturday and Sunday) and Lunch and Dinner on Saturday), program materials, a patch, insurance and all program items.

Cub Scouts can attend Parent & Pal as a pack, den or individual family, but it should be one-on-one with your own son (meaning parent/s – son/s) for the best camping experience.

Moms or dads or both can attend. (Other family relatives – grandparents, etc. – may attend in place of a parent.) (**Note: If there are two Scouts in your family, it is okay to attend with one parent. Also, both parents may attend with their Scout son/s.)

Note: Important: Children other than registered Cub Scouts CANNOT attend camp.

Get ready, race fans! The Eagle Trail District Pinewood Derby is happening soon! There will be two races – the Invitational Race and the Open Race. The deadline to register is Saturday, March 18, 2012.

All cars will be inspected and weighed per District Rules. Car numbers will be assigned once inspection is passed.

Scouts must be present and in uniform in order to race.

Invitational Race

All 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Overall Pack winners are eligible to enter the District Finals.

Awards Presented: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall
Fastest Pack Award: Awarded for the fastest combined speeds of their two fastest cars (2 car minimum for a pack to be eligible)

Open Race

Every Scout in the Eagle Trail District is eligible to run in the Open Race. Registration is $5 per car, payable at the Fairview Service Center.

Awards Presented: 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall

Do a good turn…Scouting for Food

… around the block, around the neighborhood

Southern Sky District Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture Scouts collect more than 40,000 food items each year, providing a “good turn” service for their friends and neighbors who are ready to help a good cause. They gather nourishment for thousands of needy children and families in our North Collin County communities. Now it is time for Southern Sky to do its part!

Jan 6th/Jan 22th Boy Scout Troops, Cub Scout Packs, and Venture Crews will pickup collection bags at either the January Roundtable (Jan 06) or at the Annual District Recognition Dinner (Jan 22)

Feb 11th Cub/Boy/Venture Scouts deliver bags to homes in assigned neighborhoods

Feb 18th Cub/Boy/Venture Scouts pick up bags of food from homes in assigned neighborhoods.

Look for more information at your monthly Cub Scout/Boy Scout/Venture Roundtables and on the Southern Sky website (www.southernskydistrict.org) in the upcoming months!
