Scouts, come and talk to the world on Saturday, October 17, 2009, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Unite the world through friendship. Mark your calendar for this exciting opportunity.

The JOTA (Jamboree On The Air) is an annual event during which Scouts throughout the world meet each other through amateur radio contacts. JOTI (Jamboree On The Internet) is another event where Scouts make contacts using the Computers and Internet. JOTA/JOTI contributes to better understanding and mutual respect between youngsters in different countries. This annual event is sponsored by the World Scout Bureau. Thousands of amateur radio stations around the world participate.

Who should attend?

All Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts and Adult Leaders, family and friends are invited.

How to Attend:

Come to one of the JOTA stations on Saturday, October 17th between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Wear your Scout uniform if you can, though it is not mandatory.

JOTA Stations in the Circle Ten Council Area:

JOTA Radio stations will be organized at different locations throughout the Circle Ten Council area. The exact locations will be published at the Council web site by September 15th, 2009.

Speak to the Astronauts on Board the International Space Station:

Speak to the Astronauts on Board International Space Station through Radio, and ask them your questions. 20 Scouts from the greater DFW area will be selected to ask questions to the Astronauts from the JOTA station at the National Scouting Museum. This contact with the Space Station will be relayed LIVE to all other JOTA stations in the DFW area. Scouts stationed at some of these local JOTA stations may get the opportunity to ask questions too.

JOTA/JOTI Extravaganza at the National Scouting Museum:

National Scouting Museum at Irving will be hosting a special “JOTA/JOTI Extravaganza” on Saturday, October 17th 2009, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. FREE admission to the Museum the whole day on Saturday, FREE food & drink to all participants, a FREE special JOTA Patch, and a specially designed QSL card for the JOTA.
There will be demonstration of Radio Scouting using Satellites, and free photo opportunities with BSA’s Chief Scout Executive Bob Mazzuca. There will be laptop computers throughout the Museum to participate in the JOTI (Jamboree on the Internet) as well.

Patches:

A limited number of patches for 2009 JOTA and JOTI are available for purchase at these stations. The cost is $4, and the purchase is optional.
