District-wide Service Project – December 19, 2009

EagleServiceProjectThis Saturday, December 19th from 9am-noon, we will be cleaning up ‘The Meadow’, a 100 acre nature preserve on the border of Allen and Plano, managed by the Connemara Conservancy. It is closest to the corners of Bethany and Hedgecoxe roads.

The creekbed and surrounding forest need some attention. Debris was scattered when Rowlett Creek topped its banks three times in the October and November rains. We’ll separate the recyclables, and are trying to arrange for the City of Allen to remove what we collect and bag. The project is scheduled for 9-12:00.

Connemara Conservancy is a nonprofit land trust dedicated to preserving and protecting open space and the natural beauty in North Texas for both present and future generations. The Meadow is not a park but a preserve, managed so as to preserve and restore the natural biologically diverse ecosystem that is native to the area. It is made available to the public as a place to revive the spirit while teaching the importance
of nature and biodiversity in the world where we live. See www.connemaraconservancy.org for information about The Meadow.
