Adventure Base 100 at Texas State Fair
Print

Did you know that the Boy Scouts have a Transformer? It’s True! Really! It may not fight evil robots from another galaxy…but it is made up from a big rig.

It is Adventure Base 100, and it is coming to Dallas!

Adventure Base 100 is a 18 wheeler big rig that can transform into a scouting experience that can go anywhere.

This year at Texas State Fair it will be on display, to let fairgoers experience a ropes course, a zipline, scout exhibitions, build their own pinewood derby cars for racing against everyone else at the fair, and a lot more.

But we need YOUR help to make it work. We are looking for volunteers to welcome visitors, demonstrate scouting skills, and show off scouting talents at the demo stage.

Attached is a document explaining more about the jobs needed to be done.

If you would like to work in one of the areas/show off your skills, contact me at egrune@bsamail.org and let me know what you can do to help!

Updates!

  • AB100 will be at the Fair on Friday, Oct 15th through Sunday, Oct 17th.
  • No, you don’t have to pay to get into the fair on a day you volunteer.
  • Shifts are 4 hours each, so you can work as many of those as you would like and enjoy the rest of your day at the fair.
  • To work in the different sections we are looking for registered adult volunteers 18 or older (you can bring your kids to help too though)
  • A lot of folks have asked to sign up in many of the areas, but where we need a lot of people (and this is where the youth really come in) is the stage. Here we are trying to have enough scouts continuously demonstrating some scout skills / talents. So whether you can tie 138 different kinds of knots, can demonstrate textbook CPR on a dummy, or can translate knock-knock jokes into semaphore, I would love to have your talent demonstrated at the fair, just let me know what it is and what days/times you would like to do it
