Both the Service Center and Scout Shop will be OPEN on Monday July 5, 2010

Please consider joining the Southern Sky District Summer Camp Contingent at Camp James Ray in Pottsboro, TX. The district summer camp contingent will be led by Himanshu Mehta (me) and Stephanie Kirk. We are both part of Troop 306 and District Committee Members. This would be my second year taking boys to summer camp as part of district contingent. I had 10 boys who joined me last year and Stephanie and I are willing to take any scouts from any troops who are interested in going this year.

The district summer camp contingent leaves Sunday, July 4th and returns home July 10th. The cost is $205 if paid on time and $235 if paying late. Since the first payment of $105 per scout is due by the March 29th to the council, I like to know as soon as possible if anyone is interested. The second payment of $100 is due by May 7th and if late then the payment increase to $130 (with fees). This is the basic fee and depending on what merit badges scout selects, we will let you know if any additional fees are needed for merit badge kits or any related fees.

It has been decided that Twilight Camp will not take place this afternoon at Myers Park. There are strong thunderstorms popping up all over the metroplex and one strong cell is tracking straight for the park. It is much safer to not have camp than to try to evacuate 400+ people in the event that a severe T-storm happens.

We apologize for any inconvenience – but we definitely want to err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety of our Scouts.

Patches, recognition items and projects for the Cubs will be available at roundtable – July 1st.

We are looking for a few good scouts to help out at the tournament to do various jobs at the tournament.

This year we want to make it bigger and better. We will need about 35 scouts with adult leadership from 6:30am till 2:30 pm.
We are looking for Scout troops or patrols to check bags, greet and direct golfers and to set-up activities along the golf courses.

This year we’d like to have some interactive displays such as a hatchet throws, pre-historic putting contest, bows & arrows, etc.

UPDATE! – WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR PART OF THIS EVENT!

We are looking for 100 Eagle Scouts…of ALL AGES to help with an on-field demonstration.

At the beginning of the game we would like 100 Eagle scouts to march on the field with a USA garrison flag (one of those REALLY BIG flags, should take up most of the whole infield). This will happen with the National Anthem / Game opening ceremonies. It will be an awesome display of patriotism in celebration of America and the 100th Anniversary of Scouting in America.

We will meet earlier in the Rough Riders parking lot (around 5pm) to practice.

It is that time again! Attached is the flyer for the Annual Frisco Roughrider game coming up on Saturday, June 12th! This is always a lot of fun! There are activities on the field, autographs before the game, a baseball cap for each Scout, a Roughrider Scout Night patch, and watch a movie on the field after the game for only $18 a person! All of that plus a Roughrider game….What a deal!!! Order your tickets soon because there are limited seats in the grandstands.
You will be sitting on the outfield lawn if you wait too long.

NEW THIS YEAR: Unlimited ballpark food (hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and cookies), bottomless Dr Pepper Products.

What is more American than Baseball and the Boy Scouts!

Each pack or troop needs to have a coordinator that is going to order your tickets and be the contact for your unit. You will be ordering your tickets this year directly through the Frisco Roughrider office.

We are holding a membership planning meeting on June 3rd at 6:30 at the Allen LDS Church on Exchange (before Roundtable) to discuss the following:-

• The overall recruitment plan including Joins Scouting Night plan
• Which Packs will recruit from which schools
• How Boy Scout Troops can help with Cub Scout recruitment
• Coordinated Troop open houses for new members
• Alternate plans for schools where we do not have access (Frisco ISD)
• How the District Training and Advancement teams and our Commissioners can assist with Join Scout Night.

We are asking for each unit to send a representative to this meeting to provide input on the membership plan for the coming year.

Please make sure your unit is represented – this is the most important thing that we do every year. It is all about the boys!

Q: I Missed the kick-off or I sold all of my cards already…how can I get more?

A: Cards are available at the Collin County Service Center in Allen. Just ask the good folks at the front desk for them and they will sign out as many as you need!

Q: How do I sign my unit up for a booth to show off all the cool stuff we do?

A: You can register online at the Circle 10 website, Click HERE for the Scout Show page and registration form. Of course, you’ll want to sign up for a booth to be sure to get your unit’s full commission from ticket sales. Booth’s can be just about anything in the world of scouting…I’ve seen knot tying relays, primitive camping techniques, outdoor cooking, games, pinewood derby…get creative!

Q: What is Scout Show?

A: What? You’ve never been? Well it’s a big celebration of scouting from units all across the council. With booths and demonstrations for the whole family to enjoy (and to sample other successful program ideas too). This year it is at The Ballpark in Arlington. Saturday, May 8th from 10 am to 3pm.
